Named in honor of Louis Prang, the 19th-century printer often credited with popularizing the Christmas card in America, the awards have grown into the most anticipated night on a greeting card designer’s calendar (loc.gov).

Winning a Louie is about more than bragging rights. A win places your work in front of retailers, distributors, and media who use the awards as a curation tool for what deserves shelf space. For an independent greeting card designer, it is a shortcut to credibility that might otherwise take years to build. Rising Star Award Criteria: Celebrating New Designers

The Rising Star Louie Award is dedicated to the celebration of emerging talent. The criteria are specific: entrants must have been in business for three years or less (greetingcard.org). This category exists to cheer on the newest voices in the industry - those whose raw originality and great craftsmanship capture real emotions. We were beyond thrilled to take home this year’s Rising Star Award for the 5-card collection below!

The Greeting Card Association said we have “incredible new energy,” “fresh creativity,” and a “fun perspective.” They called Barone & Co. “one to watch,” and said we’ll “shape the future of the card-giving industry.” Wow!!

For Barone & Co., taking home the Rising Star award was such an honor. It affirmed that our inclusive, eco-friendly approach to design resonated beyond our own customer base and earned respect from the most discerning eyes in the business. We are so grateful!

Louie Award Categories

The Louie Awards celebrate the incredible range of creativity found across the greeting card industry, with categories spanning everything from Birthday to Friendship, Congratulations, Get Well, Mother’s Day, New Baby, Sympathy, Romantic Occasions, and more. In 2026, more than 1,000 entries from 185 companies competed across 56 categories for a Louie.

We’re thrilled that Barone & Co. came away with three additional Louie Award wins in 2026: Get Well/Encouragement – Above $5.50, Non-Religious Celebrations – Above $5.50, and Superbly Stated - all shown below. Each win represents a different side of what we love to create - greeting cards that bring a little more humor, heart, and connection to life’s everyday moments.
